Frequently Asked Questions
Who are the instructors?
Gerard Murphy leads all the dance socials on the ship, as well as instructs all the line dance workshops. In the past we haven't paid other instructors to join the cruise to teach, as that would make the cost of the vacation more for guests, as we'd need to recuperate the additional instructor costs. If we have a large group of guests this may be something we’d consider.
Is there a DJ?
We do have a DJ. Her name is Donna Laurin (Ontario, Canada). Donna is a huge help with preparing a playlist beforehand for our social dance time (based on requests from our guests).
What is the schedule for workshops and open dancing?
We typically aim for social dance time and/or workshops on the Sea Days. Maybe some limited time on port days. It really depends on what space we can negotiate with the cruise line. We've learned that on port days our guests generally leave the ship to explore or do an excursion! On some past cruises we've had dance time in the morning and afternoons of each Sea Day. We rarely get dance time on any evening, based on the lack of availability of a space onboard -- but we continue to ask for evening space every time, just in case!!
The actual schedule of social dance time, workshops and other group activities will not be posted until closer to our debarkation date. We're still working out space requirements with the cruise line.
Will we be dancing every day?
Our aim is to host an escorted cruise vacation, with a modern line dance twist! We enjoy the ship, the ports and being together -- and of course we dance too. However, it is not like a large dance event where you might be dancing all day and have open dancing every night.
How may people typically attend one of these cruises?
We typically have anywhere from 80 to 120 dancers from all over Canada and the USA.
If I book this cruise online or through another travel agency can I still participate in the group activities?
No. The group activities are a benefit of buying into our group. All group activities are private functions and will not be open to other passengers on board the ship.
Is this group cruise for line dancers only?
Friends, partners and family members are more than welcome to attend as well!! Dancing isn’t mandatory!
What's the playlist for social dancing?
Playlists for any social dance time are created by DJ Donna Laurin beforehand, based on requests from the dancers that are booked on the cruise. We start the process of gathering requests a couple of months in advance of sailing. And we share the final playlist shortly before sailing. So, it really all depends on what our guests request! Like at any event there is a mix of music types and genres.
What about hotel, shuttles, airfare and travel insurance?
CAA Travel will confirm a pre-cruise night hotel and a shuttle from the hotel to the pier. CAA will discuss this with you when you book. They can also assist with booking airfare, purchasing insurance and arranging other pre and post cruise vacation plans.
